3 Hot cars to enter the Indian market in 2015

If you’re a Petrol Head, then you already know which cars will hit the Indian market this year. But if you aren’t, then here are our top 5 picks of the lot.

1. Mercedes-Benz CLA:

Expected Launch: January 2015

Expected Price: 30+ lakhs

2014 was a successful year for Mercedes-Benz in India, its most successful year since its entry in the Indian market in the 90s, to be honest. The CLA45AMG was launched in July last year, and this year will witness the launch of its sibling, the CLA sedan. The car will be assembled here, and will be the company’s foremost MFA-underpinned model which will be manufactured at Mercedes’ Chakan facility.

2. BMW i8:

Expected Launch: January 2015

Expected Price: 1.50 – 2.00 crores

This car made its first appearance in India in the 2014 Auto Expo, where it was unveiled by Sachin Tendulkar. This plug-in hybrid car has a 3 cylinder petrol engine, BMW’s patent eDrive technology (electric motors) alongside Twin Power Turbo technology. The electric motors have the capacity to generate power up to 131bhp while its petrol engine can give power up to 231bhp.

The car has quite a futuristic appearance, with its tail lamp design being a prominent feature on display. Since the Indian market has never before witnessed such a car, there really is no competition for it. BMW is going to create a demand for an entirely new type of car.

3. Jaguar XE:

Expected Launch: June 2015

Expected Price: 30 – 44 lakhs

It’s no secret that Jaguar manufactures cars which are always in the premium category’s high end. This trend of theirs was made obvious via their XJ and XF in the year 2009. But its absence from the entry-level sports segment has been quite conspicuous.

Jaguar’s XE is expected to be in stiff competition with the Mercedes-Benz C-Class, the BMW 3 Series and the Audi A4. It’s been speculated that the car might be assembled locally in India to get its price reduced.
