Unfortunately, you need to work a lot harder than you can imagine to keep it that ways. Unhealthy lifestyle and eating habits are the main reason why you must take extra special care to protect it. Here’s what you can do to ensure a healthy smile.

1. Brush Twice A Day:

Doctors often advise to brush teeth or rinse the mouth after every meal. However, this is not possible every time as it entirely depends on where you are at the moment. Therefore, to be on the safer side, make sure you brush your teeth once before going to bed and once after getting up. This is the golden rule. Abide by it.

2. Avoid Caffeine:

We know you can’t live without your steaming mug of coffee of a cup of tea. But the matter of the fact is that both tea and coffee contain caffeine and that spoils the teeth. These beverages make the teeth turn yellow and also cause bad breath. Therefore, if you can’t put a complete stop to your tea or coffee drinking habits, then lower the quantity you consume daily.

3. Floss Regularly:

Flossing is as important as brushing teeth as it helps in removing food particles and plaque from places a toothbrush can easily give a miss. Whether it is under the gum-line or right between your teeth, the floss thread covers all areas. Quite interestingly, flossing is a relatively new concept in India. Hence, it is better to ask your dentist for tips on flossing to do it right without hurting your gums.

4. Stop Smoking:

If you smoke, then you know the health of your teeth will automatically deteriorate, long with that of your lungs. Cigarettes contain nicotine which, in turn, decolourizes the teeth. It literally “kills” the beauty of the smile. Give up smoking altogether to not only save your smile but also your life!
