If you have an interest in becoming a dance music DJ then there some things that you need to know before you start out. 1. You Can Be a DJ Without Producing Music:

Producing music and being a DJ are two different things; you don’t need to do one to do the other. A Disc Jockey is anyone who plays pre-recorded music in front of a live audience. Producing on the other hand means creating original music.

2. Figure Out What Equipment You’ll Need:

You must have seen DJ’s with big tables full of equipment in front of them. Well, you’ll need to do some research and figure out what all you’ll need to buy. The all-in-one controller is preferred for newer DJ’s but you can also go all out and turntables, mixers, and more.

3. You’ll Need to Learn Basic Skills:

Use some free DJ software first, like Virtual DJ Home and Mixxx, to get a hang of it. The technical aspects of DJ-ing are something you can’t get by without learning!

4. You’ll Have to Invest Time and Money:

To learn all the pre-required skills, to make your DJ set, to buy all the equipment you’ll need, all requires investment of time and money. Even after you do these things, it will be a struggle to score gigs and make a big name for yourself so you need to put in a lot of work!
