One doesn’t need a reason to party with friends. Open a bottle of bubbly, get some appetizers going, play some music and you have an ideal atmosphere to chill out. And given the kind of lifestyle that most people lead, organizing and attending a get together every now and then is necessary to de-stress.
However, with the advent of technology, most people have become busy showcasing the newest gadget or device they own. They don’t focus on spending time with people. But if you combine the fun of technology with magic of having friends around – there’s nothing like it!
Here are a few game apps that are a perfect mix of friends and technology:
1. Dance Party:
Available for Apple, this free app is more than just a rhythm game. It’s a great dancing game to play with friends as a party icebreaker. All the players have to do is dance off by imitating the movements of an on-screen dancer. The iPhone functions as Wiimote-like motion-sensing controller. You can connect the device to a stereo system for better audio – and dance the night away with friends!
2. Reverse Charades:
We all have played charades as a child with our families. But playing with friends is even better. And “Reverse Charades” brings back the good old memories, but with a twist. Here, a group acts out the clue as one team and a single person on the opposing team makes a guess. “Reverse Charades” is free and available on Android and iOS.
3. What If…?:
Whether you are hosting a party of 4 or 40 people, the app has a string of whimsical and fun queries that will instantly pull the crowd together. Questions such as “What if there was peace on earth but the Internet disappeared?” won’t just draw interesting answers but also lots of laughs. “What If…?” is available on Google Play and iTunes for free.
4. Heads Up!:
This game requires you to hold your phone against your forehead and try to determine the word (on the screen) your friends mime or imitate in front of you till time runs out. This game was created by famous comedian and TV presenter Ellen DeGeneres. The categories are diverse and include celebrities, animals, places, etc. “Heads Up” is available on iOS and Android platforms.
Monopoly was fun but it used to make the players a tad aggressive. If you want the niceties between your friends to completely vanish, then play “Bloop”. It is designed for playing on a tablet. This fast game can be played by a team of 4 who must tap their coloured tiles as fast as possible – all at the same time. Fingers will cross, hands will collide and shoving is inevitable. “Bloop” is available on Android for free.
