Cricket fans, sit up! A string of nail-biting matches are just around the corner and you can’t afford to miss out on them. The Indian cricket team is one of the top, most successful teams in the world thanks to an amazing list of players.
It has lost some great matches and even lost some! And, with the T20 format the stakes of each match are even higher. Adding to this thought, let us take a look at five cricket teams that can pose quite an aggressive competition to India:
The T20 World Cup has not really brought much luck to the Australian team, since the time the tournament began in 2007. Their heart-wrenching defeat to England in 2015 is one such case. Even this year, in all the five matches played against India, Australia was able to secure just one win!
However, Australia still remains one of the biggest rivals of India. With names such as Shane Watson, David Warner and Glenn Maxwell, we can expect some magic on-field in the next match slated on March 27.
The match between these two countries is aggressive. In fact, the match not only involves the players but also the public watching it. In WT20, the two countries have played twice, both of which were won by India. The Shahid Afridi-led team really needs to buck up next time.
But with strong Indian bowlers and a captain as cool as MS Dhoni, winning the upcoming match on March 19 in Kolkata should be a cakewalk for them.
3. South Africa:
The South African team has been playing good T20 and with their wins against Bangladesh and India before they do stand a good chance in the tournament. In a recent interview, the SA captain Faf Du Plessis revealed that they are “highly motivated and hungry” to perform. Well, let’s wait and watch on March 12 because that is when they play next with India.
4. New Zealand:
Let’s face it. The Kiwis have been doing exceptionally well this year with 5 smashing hits and one tie against India. Led by Kane Williamson, the team is busy preparing for the next match on March 15 in Kolkata. The team is a good mix of experience and youth and is eager to play smart cricket.
It seems like some very exciting clashes are to be watched out for. We are hopeful that all the teams will put up their best performance. But like it’s said “may the force be with the Indian team”.
