How India Shocked England In The 4th Test at Mumbai


The victory in Mumbai also showcased the extent of success India have had in 2016. This was India’s eighth win in Tests this year, which is also the joint highest by them in a calendar year in the longest format of the game. 1. Spin Magic:

The Indian spinners were on top in this match again. In England’s first innings, two Indian spinners took all ten wickets. Ravichandran Ashwin picked up six and RavindraJadeja took four wickets. This was the eighth instance overall when Indian spinners have taken all ten wickets of the opposition in the first innings of a Test.

2. Solid batting performance:

India’s batsmen gave a good account of themselves in this match again. In India’s first innings, Murali Vijay and Cheteshwar Pujara added 107 runs for the second wicket. This was their seventh century stand in Tests, which is the most by any Indian pair since October 2010.

3. Kohli never ceases to amaze:

Kohli created and broke many records during his knock of 235. His 15th Test century was achieved in 89 Test innings, which is the joint second least number of innings for any Indian batsman to score 15 Test hundreds. The 235-run knock by Kohli in India’s first innings is now the highest Test innings by an Indian captain.

4. A bright future:

As the youth performs better with every passing game, it only shows what potential the young team has. India’s newest all-rounder Jayant Yadav scored his first hundred in Tests in this match. He became the first Indian and the 19th batsman overall to score a century in Tests batting at No 9 or lower.
