1. France: The French national team represents the ethnic diversity in the country that is reflected in the iconic “blue” jersey of the national team. The country is often referred as “Les Bleus” (The Blues) and “Les Tricolores” or “L’Equipe Tricolore” (The Tri-color Team) as their jersey combines the base color blue with white, and red – the three colors of their national flag. Since the team’s inception, France typically wears the iconic blue shirts with white shorts and red socks. Interestingly, in the year 1972, France appointed Adidas for 38 years as the team’s kit provider. In 2008, French Football Federation (FFF) ended their deal Adidas and replaced them with and signing with Nike for the unprecedented deal that was valued at an estimated €320 million for the period of seven years that ends on 9 July 2018. The iconic jersey not only features the French national motto “Liberte, Egalite, Fraternite” (liberty, equality, fraternity) embossed on the collar button, but also the “tricolor stip” on the back of the neck and the also the words “Nos Differences Nous Unissent” (our differences unite us) that is printed on the badge inside the collar.
2. Russia: Host of the FIFA 2018 World Cup, Russia also has an iconic jersey that is reminiscent of the Former Soviet Era. The new jersey, as selected by the Russian Football Union for the 2014 FIFA World Cup had the maroon and gold color scheme that featured Russian flag’s colored stripes marked horizontally into the sleeves. The front side is very significant as it highlights their achievements as the “Conquerors of Space”. Adidas is the official supplier of the national team’s official jersey since 2008. The latest fashion for men, 2018 Russian jersey’s design is a tribute to the USSR’s achievement of winning gold at the Seoul Olympics in 1988. Th new design combines has the classic red and white with the Russia crest, and the message “Вместе к победе” (together to victory) on the back side.
3. Germany: The defending champions always had the home kit consisting of a white shirt, black shorts, and white socks. The combination of the colors in the jersey is inspired from the flag of the 19th century State of Prussia. The away shirt’s color has been changed many times – sometimes it was a green shirt with white shorts and sometimes it was pure black-and-white. The 2018 men new style jersey, supplied by long-standing partner Adidas, since 1954 is graphically designed that features varied shades of grey and black created by using various black lines. The design does not include the colors from the German national flag!
