A Delight For Potterheads, The New Harry Potter Game Brings Magic To Real Life

September 26th, 2019

Harry Potter’s wizarding world is one of those rare cultural phenomenon whose continued success hedges on fans’ desire to physically be a part of it. As a Potterhead, it will always hurt a little to think that I’ll never actually have the pleasure of an owl delivering my Hogwarts acceptance letter, not to mention spending seven years of schooling having magical adventures — but ‘Harry Potter: Hogwarts Wizards Unite makes a solid attempt at recreating that experience in a mobile game format. It is an augmented reality mobile game developed by Niantic and WB Games San Francisco

With Wizards Unite gameplay, players are able to view the gameplay world through a smartphone. The game allows players to fight against mythical beasts from the Harry Potter and Fantastic Beasts franchise. Players may choose their wizarding house, their wand, and their profession: either Professor, Auror or Magizoologist.

1. The Game Avatar :

After creating a game account, the player makes an avatar, whose location depends on the device’s geographical location. The player then travels around the real world to find “confounded” items and creatures, and “unconfound” them. The player can also stop at inns (to replenish spell power), greenhouses (to gain potion ingredients and grow new ingredients), and fortresses (to fight more creatures). As the player moves within their real world surroundings, their avatar moves within the game’s map.hooked for a pretty long time.

2. Mutual Developers :

‘Harry Potter: Wizards Unite’ is an AR game that’s made and developed by the same people who made the famous game ‘Pokemon Go’, a game that made a lot of people step out of their homes and explore the world around them. Well, this new Harry Potter game is very similar to that, except, you know, you’ll be looking for traces of magic instead of Pokemon.

3. The Game theory :

The big focus of the game is collecting stuff on the go. The more you walk around and explore, the more you find interesting stuff around you. So, the basic premise of the game is very simple – As a wizard, your objective in the game is to collect all the magic junk and make sure they’re kept away from the eyes of the normal people.

You have to physically wander around, gathering stuff like those traces. You can tap into objects that pop on your screen, attempt to break them down with the help of spells. It plays very similar to ‘Pokemon Go’, except this one’s made to feel more relevant to Potterheads. So yes, you’re going to see a lot of Potterheads on the streets very soon.Which is again a win win situation for us Potterheads?

4. The added Features :

‘Harry Potter: Wizards Unite’ is still an AR game. And the more you play the more you discover about it. The surprising factor is when you walk around with it and see the characters come alive after switching on your camera. You can also find different places in real time. Quite overwhelming I would say.

The best part about this game is that its way more polished than pokemon go and still gives you the same vibe, in fact much better.

Every time you do that, a new level unlocks. Structured in the form of a tunnel, this game is different from the rest. No coins to collect, no rewards and additional purchases. In each new level your speed increases as compared to the previous level and you are required to create high power collisions to discover new particles.
